Activities
Nitidæ aims to provide effective and sustainable responses to the development challenges of rural populations in developing countries, and to demonstrate that it is possible and beneficial to reconcile economic dynamism and the conservation of the environment through field projects that can be replicated on a large scale.
Nitidæ’s approach is characterized by : A multisectoral mode of intervention at a territory level … Most Nitidæ projects cover a set of complementary activities on the scale of a coherent territory from an administrative, economic and environmental points of view. The intervention is done concomitantly in all the sectors having an influence on the occupation of the space in order to maximize its impacts: the agriculture of course, to adress the limitations of the interventions to the parcel; conservation and sustainable management of forests; energy (and bioenergy in particular); but also governance! … and throughout the value chain.
Nitidæ supports all players in the value chain by maximizing synergies. The valorization of local wealth (cultural and natural) requires strong interactions between production, processing and marketing.
By acting at the heart of value chains, Nitidae is able to diagnose sustainable productive potentials in relation to valuation opportunities in local and global markets. On this basis, our teams can support the emergence of local production systems capable of meeting global food, cosmetics and energy needs. A partnership approach and co-construction methods.
Nitidæ systematically work in partnership with North and South actors, the private sector and the public sector. Nitidæ mobilizes, in particular, the private, productive (agribusiness) or financial sector, which often has a strong impact on the dynamism of the territories and which must be part of the sustainable development solutions. Nitidæ is also investing in so-called ‘innovative’ financing (Payments for Environmental Services and Impact Funds) to supplement the financing of public development aid and studies carried out on behalf of the private sector. Many innovations developed by Nitidæ are the result of collaborative work with the research sector, the private sector and direct users.

Strategies For Change
Forest & REDD + To ensure the preservation of forest ecosystems, Nitida’s work is part of the REDD + mechanism (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation and the role of conservation, sustainable forests management and forest carbon stocks), and is available through complementary actions … Agriculture & Markets.
In a global economy, pressure on natural resources is increasing and room for manoeuvre for sustainable family farm management decreases. Nitidæ helps the food industry to meet these growing and multidimensional challenges (food, economic, energy, environmental and social) by developing and implementing tools at different scales, from the plot to the territory … Bioenergy & Waste.
In many southern countries, the energy needs of industries and populations face high costs and can lead to deforestation. To meet both local needs and constraints, Nitidæ offers appropiate energy production solutions, reducing the pressure on the wood resource and increasing the value added related to the processing of raw products …
